Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Q Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Q ENERGY Solutions SE (Berlin, Germany), has secured 50.4 million euros (US$55.7 million) in financing for the development of France's largest floating solar project.
The financing was arranged by Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies (Montrouge, France), through its financing arm Unifergie, and Bpifrance (Paris). Located in northeastern France, the 74.3-megawatt (MW) solar plant is under construction, with commissioning expected in 2025. The project will provide clean energy to about 37,000 residents.

The project utilizes high-efficiency, double-sided (bifacial) solar modules designed to maximize energy capture. The floating solar system offers significant benefits: it avoids land use, reduces water evaporation, and improves water quality by inhibiting algae growth. Additionally, the cooling effect of the water enhances the power generation efficiency of the solar panels.
Industrial info is tracking 48 floating solar projects, totaling nearly US$1 billion of investment, in France. Subscribers can click here for a list of detailed project reports.
