Garlock Sealing Technologies Begins First Phase Construction of New York Plant Overhaul

Garlock Sealing Technologies (Palmyra, New York), a subsidiary of EnPro Industries Incorporated (NYSE:NPO) (Charlotte, North Carolina) is beginning a five-year $37 million overhaul project of its 100- year-old facility in Palmyra, New York.

Garlock has chosen LeChase Construction Incorporated of Rochester, New York, to oversee the project as general contractor, which will include demolition of portions of the 700,000 square foot campus, the renovation of several buildings, construction of new 60,000 and 120,000 square foot buildings, as well as the upgrading and installation of new production equipment. The project will occur in phases through 2010, with the first phase of construction beginning this month. These improvements are expected to make the plant operate more efficiently and make the company more competitive in the present, as well as give it the opportunity to grow and excel in the future.

The oldest buildings were constructed in 1907 and the newest in 1956. This project will bring the Garlock’s Palmyra operations into the forefront of manufacturing technology, to better compete in the global marketplace.
