Genermex is Constructing New Power Plant in Mexico

Generadores Mexicanos SA de CV (Genermex) (Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon Mexico) was awarded a concession for the construction of a $130 million 125-megawatt (MW) natural gas fired combined cycle power station. The project will be located in the small town of Apodaca ten kilometers northeast of the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in Mexico's northeastern region. The eight companies that own Genermex will buy the power generated. The financing of the power plant will be handled by initial agreements made by Genermex with European and US banks and Genermex owners who will be utilizing the power generated.
Genermex awarded the engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) turn-key contract to Skodaexport Company Limited a consulting, power engineering & contracting company out of Praha (Prague), Czech Republic. The power plant will be equipped with two 42 MW General Electric (GE) MS6001B combustion turbines each with GE's heat recovery steam turbine generators (HRSG's) driving a single 41 MW steam turbine generator.
Genermex along with its group of industrial companies plan to absorb the entire power that is generated from the power plant. As things currently stand this project is expected to be completed and in commercial operation by the first quarter of 2005.
Genermex is part of a group of eight companies whose objective is to carry out the development and support of the electrical sector in Mexico's northeastern region. Genermex is a corporation that is one hundred percent Mexican owned and is involved in construction, operation, maintenance and servicing of power plants.
Skodaexport was created on July 1, 1966 as a state owned foreign Trade Company and was formed to be the exclusive exporter/importer of plant equipment, machines and systems for power generation. In 1989, following the liberalization of the economy and lifting of the state foreign trade monoply Skodaexport became a private joint stock company with equity capital of CZK $126 million. Its customers and partners as a strong company providing high-standard services in both its traditional business operations and new business sectors view the Company.
