Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Germany's leading white-goods maker, BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH (BSH) (Munich), plans to increase its production capacity in Turkey. According to an interview with Turkish economic daily Dunya, BSH Chairman Karsten Ottenberg said that the company's investments in Turkey to date have reached $1.3 billion.
"Turkey holds immense potential with its large domestic market and export capabilities," Ottenberg said. "BSH will speed up its investments in Turkey, its third-largest market in terms of turnover following Germany and China."
Speaking on the sidelines of the IFA 2014 electronics and technology tradeshow in Berlin, BSH Turkey CEO Norbert Klein, said the annual capacity of BSH's plants in Turkey will nearly double to 8 million units in the next five years, from the current 4.5 million.
"Extending the innovation and R&D capabilities of BSH Turkey will be the priority," Klein said.
BSH employs more than 5,000 people in Turkey, using the plant in Cerkezkoy, Tekirdag, as a supply base for the company's growing exports. About 60% of BSH production is exported to world markets. The company, which is known for its Bosch, Siemens, Profilo and Gaggenau brands, expanded its production line in Turkey by adding small home appliances to its white goods factory in March 2012.
