Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--India's state-owned gas company, GSPC LNG Limited (GLL) (Gandhinagar, Gujarat), has selected TOYO Engineering India Limited (New Delhi) as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for its upcoming liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal at Mundra in the western costal state of Gujarat.
The terminal will be developed in two phases. GLL plans to construct a 5-million-ton-per-annum (MTPA) terminal in the first phase. The capacity of the terminal will then be extended to 10 MTPA. TOYO Engineering also bagged the turnkey contract for the Dahej LNG terminal expansion project in the state.
The LNG terminal project will require an investment of $860 million. The first phase of the terminal is expected to go on-stream by the fourth quarter of 2016. The front end engineering & design (FEED) and other pre-project activities have been completed. GLL has hired UK-based Whessoe Project Limited (Darlington) for the project management consultancy work.
Japanese EPC-firm IHI Corporation (TYO: 7013) (Tokyo) was awarded the contract for construction of the two tanks in December last year. The two tanks will each have a net storage capacity of 160,000 cubic meters (m3) for the LNG Terminal. The 5-MTPA LNG terminal is designed to have a berth for receiving LNG tankers of sizes 75,000 m3 to 260,000 m3; two LNG storage tanks; and facilities for regasification and gas evacuation.
Currently, Gujarat has two operational LNG terminals. The 10-MTPA terminal at Dahej is owned by state-run Petronet LNG Limited (BSE: 532522) (New Delhi), and Shell Oil Company (Houston, Texas), which is part of Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE:RDSA) (Netherlands), owns the other 3.6-MTPA LNG terminal at Hazira.
GSPC LNG was set up in 2007 to develop the LNG terminal at Mundra. GLL is a joint venture between Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) (Gandhinagar, Gujarat) and Adani Enterprise Limited (AEL) (BSE: 512599) (Ahmedabad, Gujarat). GSPC is the major stake-owner in the project
