Halliburton, ProFrac Settle Fracking Tech Lawsuits - Oilfield technology rivals Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) (Houston, Texas) and ProFrac (Willow Park, Texas) have resolved a pair of U.S. lawsuits over electric fracking technology, according to filings in Texas federal court. Halliburton and ProFrac unit U.S. Well Services told the court on Thursday that they had reached a settlement in principle and asked to pause two cases while they finalized it. U.S. Well fended off some of Halliburton's patent infringement allegations at trial last year. A second trial on related Halliburton patents was set to begin later this month. (Reuters)
COAL
China's July Coal Output Rises - China's Coal output rose 2.8% in July from the same month a year earlier, hitting 390.37 million metric tons, according to data released on August 15 by the country's National Bureau of Statistics. July's output was down from June's 405.38 million tons, which was the strongest month so far this year. July was also the third-highest monthly production so far in 2024, and output has been trending higher since April. (Reuters)
CRUDE OIL
Poland's Orlen Reaches Crude Oil Purchase Agreement with BP - Polish state-owned refiner Orlen (Plock, Poland) will receive 6 metric tons of oil from British energy group BP (NYSE:BP) (London, England) under a year-long agreement, it said on Monday. The deliveries of North Sea oil are expected to cover about 15% of Orlen's requirements, and both companies are open to future cooperation on joint projects, the Polish refiner said. (Reuters)
