The Power Industry has two projects worth $222 million, the largest of which is the $167 million, 50-megawatt (MW) Schofield Barracks Generating Station owned by Hawaii Electric Company Incorporated (Honolulu). The project has a construction kickoff planned for May and a completion date of December 2017. For more information, see project report.

The Alternative Fuel Industry also has two projects kicking off this year, with a total investment value (TIV) of $208 million. The largest is the $150 million Puunene Energy Biogas Plant and materials recovery facility. The plant will also house a technology anaerobic digester to process 125,000 tons per year of crops and waste and convert it into 500 million British Thermal Units (MM/BTU) of biogas per day. Construction kick off is set for October and is expected to be completed by December 2018. For more information, see project report.

Out of the four food and beverage projects worth $58 million, the $20 million Kailua Kona Brewery, owned by Kona Brewing Company (Kailua), is Hawaii's largest. It will entail constructing a 30,000-square-foot brewery and resource recovery center at a 2.6-acre site in the Kailua Kona area. With kick off expected in May, the brewery is set to be complete in August of next year. For more information on this facility, see project report.

The $33 million addition to the Hilo Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii and Hilo is the state's only Pharma & Biotech project kicking off this year. The project will consist of a two-story, 45,000-square-foot building to support the university's pharmacy program. The project already kicked off this month and will be completed by March of next year. For more information, see project report.
