India Sets New Record for Renewable Energy Installations

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--India added 20 gigawatts (GW) of solar and wind capacity from January to September 2024, a 105.8% increase in solar power installations and a 14.8% rise in wind capacity when compared with the same period in 2023. This expansion is a milestone in India's commitment to scaling its renewable infrastructure to global energy transition goals.

Of the new capacity, 13.2 GW was utility-scale solar with significant growth in the states of Rajasthan (4.96 GW), Gujarat (3.13 GW) and Tamil Nadu (1.57 GW). About 2.6 GW of wind installations were led by Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, which together account for 97% of the new wind capacity.
