Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Inner Mongolia is the largest coal producer in China and has maintained steady operations in the first 10 months of 2011. From January to October, Inner Mongolia's coal output reached 814 million metric tons (MMT), an increase of 179.09 MMT, or 28.2%, from the same period last year. The coal output in October reached 94.31 MMT, an increase of 18.49 MMT, or 24.4%, compared with the previous month, according to the Monthly Report on Coal Industry Operations, which was issued by the Coal Industry Association of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on November 24, 2011.

From January to October 2011, the coal output of enterprises directly under the central government reached 304 MMT, an increase of 18.7% from the same period last year; that of local coal enterprises reached 510 MMT, an increase of 34.6%.

In the same period, the coal output of West Inner Mongolia reached 570 MMT, an increase of 32% from the first 10 months of 2010, and that of East Inner Mongolia reached 244 MMT, an increase of 20.2%.

While the output continued growing, coal imports also showed steady growth. From January to October 2011, Inner Mongolia's coal imports reached 15.88 MMT, an increase of 24.1% from the same period last year.

In the sales sector, the proportion of coal sold out of Inner Mongolia was increased. From January to October 2011, Inner Mongolia's coal sales volume reached 814 MMT, an increase of 28.2% from the first 10 months of 2010. Of which, the sales within Inner Mongolia reached 309 MMT, accounting for 38% of the total, and the sales outside of Inner Mongolia reached 505 MMT, accounting for 62%. For sales outside Inner Mongolia, 339 MMT were shipped by railway, accounting for 67%, and 166 MMT was shipped by highway, accounting for 33%.
