Inner Mongolia's Coal Output Reaches 907.96 Million Metric Tons in First 11 Months of 2011, Up 26.6% from Last Year
From January to November 2011, Inner Mongolia's coal output reached 907.96 million metric tons, an increase of 190.79 million metric tons, or 26.6%, from the same period last year, ranking the region top in China.

The coal output in November reached 94.06 million metric tons, an increase of 14.44 million metric tons, or 18.14% from November 2010, according to the Coal Industry Administration of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
In the first 11 months of 2011, the coal output of enterprises directly under the central government reached 339.71 million metric tons, an increase of 57.63 million metric tons, or 20.43%, from the same period last year; that of local coal enterprises reached 568.25 million metric tons, an increase of 133.16 million metric tons, or 30.6%, accounting for 62.59% of the total.
From January to November 2011, the coal output of western Inner Mongolia reached 630.44 million metric tons, an increase of 144.79 million metric tons, or 29.81%, from the same period last year, accounting for 69.44% of the total; that of eastern Inner Mongolia reached 277.52 million metric tons, an increase of 46 million metric tons, or 19.87%.
Along with the increase in output, the economic benefits of coal enterprises also showed a rapid growth. From January to October 2011, the sales income of key coal enterprises in Inner Mongolia was up 45%, and the profit of key coal enterprises was up 8.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 40.6% of the total profit of industrial enterprises above the designed scale in the region.
As a region with more than 700 billion metric tons of proven coal reserves, the largest in China, the coal output of Inner Mongolia maintained the top ranking since its output surpassed Shanxi for the first time in the first quarter of 2009. Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Shaanxi are the top three coal producers in China. In 2010, Inner Mongolia's coal output reached 782 million metric tons, followed by Shanxi with 741 million metric tons, and Shaanxi with 355 million metric tons.
