JFS Milling Constructing New Turkey Feed Mill in Indiana, Design-Build Firm Identified

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately held, JFS Milling Incorporated (Huntingburg, Indiana) is constructing a new turkey feed mill in Dubois, Indiana. Ground has been broken and earth moving and dirt work are currently underway at the site two miles north of the tiny town of Dubois, situated some 57 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky in Dubois County, Indiana.

Plans call for the construction of a 130,000 square foot building that will tower some 168 feet tall once completed. The plant will mill and produce turkey feed pellets for Farbest Foods' hens & toms to feed on until they are ready for processing at the companies turkey processing plant in Huntingburg, Indiana.

JFS selected the design-build firm of Wagester & Lease Incorporated (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) to construct the $12 million facility and the company still has some bid packages to be let on the project.

The project is on a 13-month completion schedule and the facility should become operational by August of 2004. Twenty new area jobs will be created as well.

JFS Milling is a newly formed entity of Farbest Foods named after Farbest founder Jerry F. Seger. Since the early 1980's, Farbest Foods has produced high quality fresh and frozen turkey meats and parts for further processing companies. Items include turkey deli meats, roasts, turkey breakfast items, sausage, luncheon meats and franks.
