The following in an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The number one U.S. food company, Kraft Foods (NYSE: KFT) (Northfield, Il), has announced plans to invest roughly $29 million to expand their fruit drinks and lunchables plant located at 220 Park Center Drive in Winchester, Virginia.
Plans call for a 34,000 square foot building addition to make room for additional processing and packaging equipment to expand Kraft's popular Capri Sun line of fruit juice drinks. The project is the third such expansion since the plant opened its doors in 1992.
Construction work on the building is scheduled to begin in April of this year under the direction of local general contractor Howard Shockey & Sons (Winchester, Va) and it is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete the job. Equipment procurement and installation will be handled by Kraft. The expansion will bring another 75 jobs to the plant that currently employs about 300 people. The plant also produces Kool-Aid and Tang ready-to-drink beverage products as well as Oscar Mayer's lunchables products.
Kraft Foods, the largest branded food and beverage company headquartered in the U.S., markets many of the world's leading brands, including Kraft cheese, Maxwell House and Jacobs coffees, Nabisco cookies and crackers, Philadelphia cream cheese, Oscar Mayer meats, Post cereals, and Milka chocolates, in more than 140 countries.
