The $51 million expansion will include new plating and molding facilities, a new distribution center, and additions to the existing molding and assembly operations. This will occur over the next 10-12 years, the life of the company's tax abatement. Approximately $35 million of the $51 million expansion will go towards the addition of new equipment. Approximately 424 jobs will be created, and overall completion is anticipated for 2007.

Phase I, under construction since August 2004, consists of a $17.5 million expansion, which includes installation of an $11 million plating line and the retrofitting of a 135,000-square-foot distribution center, as well as the installation of new production equipment. Completion is slated for the Summer 2005, creating approximately 182 jobs. Phase II, expected to occur in a year or two, will consist of a $5 million, 65,000-square-foot corporate office expansion, and the addition of new production equipment.

Lacks Enterprises was founded in 1961 and operates seventeen manufacturing plants. The company develops high-impact plated plastic (HIPP) process and manufactures alternatives to die-cast and stainless steel auto parts such as wheel covers and grilles. It also specializes in molding, rocker panels, and trim. Its OEM customers include BMW, Ford, General Motors, Jaguar, DiamlerChrysler, Jaguar, and Volvo. Lacks employs approximately 2,000 people.
