Louisiana's NISCO Power Station Cogen Takes Another Unit Offline for Repairs

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--NISCO Cogeneration Station, a petroleum coke-fired plant located in Westlake, Louisiana, saw its remaining active unit taken offline Monday night. The station is owned by Nelson Industrial Steam Company, and is operated and maintained by Entergy Corporation (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana).

The 113-megawatt (MW) NISCO Unit 1 came to a halt after several tubes in the boiler section were blown. The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

Plant personnel expect to replace the damaged tubes and return the unit to service by the end of the week.

Unit 2, also with a 113-MW capacity, already was undergoing a planned outage and is expected to return to service in early June.
