McDonald’s Supplier Golden State Foods Building New Southern California Distribution Center

One of McDonald’s main suppliers, privately-held Golden State Foods Corporation (Irvine, California), is planning to construct a new distribution center in City of Industry, California, to support over 900 McDonald’s restaurants in the western U.S.

The building will be constructed in the Grand Crossing Business Park, owned by Majestic Realty Company in Industry. Majestic’s construction arm, Commerce Construction, will act as general contractor for this estimated $14 million project.

Plans call for the creation of a 350,000 square foot building, of which Golden State will initially occupy only 80,000 square feet. The additional 270,000 square feet will be leased out, and the company will have the first option on the additional square footage lease as business grows.

Much of the building will be outfitted with cooler and freezer storage area and there will be some dry warehouse space, as well, for storage and distribution of hamburger patties, buns, sauces, syrups, ketchup, and salad dressing. The company already has an existing 70,000 square foot warehouse in Industry, where it stores its Happy Meal toys imported from China.

Some site preparation and grading is currently underway at the 400-acre business park, and the new center is scheduled to be ready for occupancy by March 2006. Four other warehouses will be closed and relocated to the new Industry center to consolidate operations.
