McLane Foodservice Planning to Construct New Distribution Center in Virginia

Reported by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). McLane Foodservice, Incorporated (Temple, Texas), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Group (NYSE:BRK.A) (Omaha, Nebraska), is planning to construct a new $30 million foodservice distribution center in Manassas, Virginia. The company bought 25 acres of land in the Premier Business Park in Manassas, where they will build a 235,000 square-foot center on Balls Ford Road.
The company selected Construction Management Services (CMS) (Addison, Texas) as its design-build contractor, and the firm is currently working on the final design drawings for the project. Construction is scheduled to start around March of 2007, and the timetable for completion is about twelve months. Once the center is ready for occupancy, McLane will relocate operations from an existing location in Manassas.
CMS is also currently working on new distribution center projects for the company in California, New York, and Illinois.
