To keep up with product demand, the company will add a high speed loaf bread production line to the bakery

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Mid Atlantic Baking Company (Baltimore, Maryland), an affiliate of privately-held Baltimore-based H&S Bakery Incorporated, is planning a greater than $5 million investment to expand bread baking capacity at its facility in East Baltimore.
To keep up with product demand, the company will add a high speed loaf bread production line to the bakery that mainly produced rolls used by fast-food restaurants the company supplies to.
Plans are to add approximately 70,000 square feet of additional manufacturing and office space to the bakery, located at 3800 East Baltimore Street. The company selected Armada/Hoffler Construction Company (Virginia Beach, Virginia), as the general contractor for the building portion of the project, and Mid Atlantic, along with equipment vendors, will install the 200-unit-per-minute loaf bread production line and support equipment.
The contractor began moving dirt this week at the site, and building construction is scheduled to begin in the next couple of weeks. Construction of the building is scheduled to be completed by January 1, 2005.
The line installation should be completed and operational by March. The company plans to hire an additional 50 employees, increasing the total number of employees at the bakery to about 100.
H&S Bakery is one of the largest specialty hearth bakers on the East Coast, with over 100 hearth-baked varieties of breads, rolls, and specialty items. The company is family owned and operated by second and third generation family members. Their affiliates include fifteen state-of-the-art baking facilities operating in eleven states, with product distribution in 23 states.
