Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Huadian New Energy Development Company Limited (Beijing), a subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation (Beijing), received a written reply regarding the construction of 3,800 megawatts (MW) of windfarms in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2006-10) for the Jiuquan 10,000-MW wind power base in the Gansu province issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for its 200 MW Ganghekou No. 7 Windfarm in Guazhou County recently, China Huadian announced on May 7, 2009. This marks that the first batch of 20 windfarms at the Jiuquan Wind Power Base has received final approval from the NDRC.
Ganghekou No. 7 Windfarm is one of the 19 windfarms, including the Yumen Changma No. 1-3 windfarms, Guazhou Beidaqiao No. 1-5 windfarms, Guazhou Ganhekou No. 1-8 windfarms, Guazhou Qiaowan No. 1-3 windfarms, that are planned in the Jiuquan 10,000-MW wind power base to be implemented during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. In early 2008, NDRC launched the public bidding for the Jiuquan wind power base and selected the developers for these windfarms. Except for the Guazhou Qiaowan No. 3 windfarm, which was divided into two 100-MW windfarms and was awarded to two separate developers, the 200-MW windfarms were awarded to 18 leading wind power developers in China, allowing 20 wind power developers to be engaged in the development of the first stage of 3,800 MW of windfarms in the Jiuquan wind power base.
In August 2008, the tendering of wind power equipment for these windfarms was completed under the organization of the NDRC. Presently, pre-stage preparation of these windfarms has been carried out by each developer under the united organization of Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
According to the bidding document, each developer will share the pre-stage expenses based on its share in the capacity and will complete construction of each windfarm within a specified period of time. Construction of these windfarms will be started this year, and all wind turbines will be put into operation by the end of 2010.
