Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Ningxia Electric Power Construction Corporation (NEPC) (Yinchuan, Ningxia), which is a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), successfully completed the boiler water pressure test for the first 330-megawatt (MW) combined heat and power unit of Ningxia Guodian Younglight Energy and Chemical Industry Group Company Limited's (Yinchuan, Ningxia) 660-MW Ningdong cogeneration project on May 18. This opens the way for the timely commissioning of the first unit in the next stage.
The Guodian Ningdong cogeneration project is the self-service power plant for Guodian Younglight's coal-based cyclic economic industry park in Ningdong. The project not only will be responsible for the supply of electricity, steam, heat and secondary desalination in the industrial park, but also will replace 12 small coal-fired boilers scattered in its heat-supply area upon completion. According to the planning, the project will be furnished with two 330-MW air-cooling combined heat and power units, with associated heat supply pipeline works. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply heat to a total area of 3.15 million square meters and about 500 tonnes per hour of steam for industrial users.
In December 2009, Guodian Younglight received preliminary approval from the National Energy Administration. Construction of the project began at the end of 2010, but the project didn't receive the final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) until March 7, 2012.
Presently, the NEPC is working closely with the project owner, Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (Xi'an, Shaanxi), the project designer, as well as related parties for the mechanical works prior to final commissioning. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operation by the end of this year.
