Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Novartis International AG (NYSE:NVS) (Basel, Switzerland) is selling its Grimsby active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) plant in the U.K. to a subsidiary of International Process Plants (IPP) (New Jersey). IPP supplies used process plants and secondhand process equipment.

The plant has been in operation since 1951.
Novartis will continue operations at the site through December 2022, with the IPP subsidiary taking over the site in 2023. Industrial Info first reported Novartis' intent to close and sell the plant in 2018.
Sited on 170 acres, the plant has grown to more than 500,000 square feet. It includes 90 reaction suites, 17 centrifuges, 26 dryer systems, three milling systems, 10 solvent recovery systems, modern labs and offices, and a wastewater treatment facility. The plant is capable of manufacturing multiple APIs.
