Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Oregon Clean Energy LLC, a subsidiary of North American Project Development LLC (NAPD) (Boston, Massachusetts), has broken ground on a natural gas-fired plant in Oregon, Ohio. The new facility will have a 799-megawatt (MW) capacity and replace a coal-fired plant that was closed two years ago.
The new facility is on 30 acres of land, about one mile north of the retired coal plant. NAPD is developing the project, which is expected to cost $850 million.
The Oregon Clean Energy Facility paves the way for long-term future growth for the city's industrial area. It will provide many jobs over the construction phase and establish the city of Oregon as a leader in Ohio's energy sector.
The Ohio Power Sitting Board approved the project in May 2013. Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kansas) was selected as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor in June 2014, financing was secured in November, and the plant is expected to go online in 2017.
