Petrobras to Start Up 208-Megawatt Euzebio Rocha Cogen Plant in November

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), has announced that it plans to start up the 208-megawatt (MW) Euzebio Rocha Cogeneration Power Plant in November. The plant is located in Cubatao city, Sao Paulo, near the company's Presidente Bernardes Refinery.

The $500 million natural-gas-fired power project started construction last February 2007. The station will operate in combined-cycle mode and have one 160-MW gas turbine, one 55-MW steam turbine, supplied by Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany) and three boilers, of which one of those is a heat recovery steam generator. The Euzebio da Rocha Power Plant will supply steam and energy to the company's neighboring refinery and will also supply the remaining electricity to the country's national grid.

Petrobras is devoted to power generation, the exploration of oil and gas and in the production, refining, purchase and transportation of crude oil products. The company has 23 operational power plants in Brazil and is the country's eighth largest power generator.
