Potential Gold Mining Projects Develop in Jordan

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--High concentrations of gold have been detected at a number of locations in Jordan, particularly in the Aheimir Volcanic Suite in Wadi Abu Khushyba. The area is situated 90 kilometers north of Aqaba, in southern Jordan.

The gold was found near copper deposits in the area and has not been commercially exploited, according to Jordan's Natural Resources Authority, which made the following announcements about mining gold in Jordan:

• Mining and exploration companies are invited to submit investment proposals for gold projects on the basis of detailed submissions for exploration, evaluation and exploitation.
• Further work is still required in Wadi Abu Khushieba and other prospect areas to ascertain the true size and purity of the gold deposits.
• Memorandums of understanding and/or concessions will be formed from negotiations with the Natural Resources Authority under a mineral-concession agreement standard or a production-sharing agreement.

This week Kamal Jrissat, the former director of the Natural Reosources Authority, said to Jordan's Al-Rayah Qatari newspaper that Jordan is packed with minerals and that exploiting the metal and mineral deposits in the country could significantly increase the country's wealth.
