Project Proposal of Datang Tingzikou Water Control Project Receives Approval from NDRC

Tingzikou Water Control Project is an important project listed both in the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” (2006-2010) of Sichuan Province and the state. According to the approved project proposal, the proposed construction area of the project will be 8,236 hectares, including permanent occupation of cultivated land 2,782 hectares, planned population of resettlement of 31,467 persons. Total estimated investment of the project will be about $1.56 billion. The project is comprised of water retaining, flood discharge, navigation, irrigation intake, powerhouse and other auxiliary structures. Total reservoir storage capacity will be 4.116 billion cubic meters, normal pool level 458 meters, maximum flood control capacity 1.64 billion cubic meters. Installed capacity of the power station will be 1,000 megawatts (MW), dam-topping navigation capacity will be 5 million metric tons/year, design irrigation area 261,538 hectares. Total construction period is six years and nine months.

Tingzikou Water Control Project is the first project invested by China Datang Corporation for the development of hydropower resources in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The project will play an important function in improving the company’s power source structure and its presence in the hydropower market of Sichuan Province. The receiving of approval from the NDRC has paved a firm foundation for the official start of construction of the Tingzikou Water Control Project decided by China Datang Corporation in 2007.
