Rioglass Solar to Build Headquarters and Solar Equipment Manufacturing Plant in Arizona

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Rioglass Solar, part of Rioglass Group (Madrid, Spain), will construct a manufacturing facility and the company's U.S. headquarters in Surprise, Arizona, which is in the Greater Phoenix area. The building will have an area of 230,000 square feet when completed. Rioglass Solar produces curved glass sheets used in concentrating solar power (CSP) plants.

The facility will be built in two phases. Phase I will entail the construction of a 130,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing operation, which will open in mid-2011. Construction will begin this month or in early 2011 and should be completed by mid-2011. Phase II, which will begin immediately after the completion of Phase I, will double the size of the manufacturing plant.

The company is expected to employ more than 100 people at the facility when it is opened. Mirrors manufactured at the Surprise facility will be used at Abengoa SA's Solana Solar Generating Station, which is scheduled to begin construction by the end of this year near Gila Bend, Arizona.
