Romania's Petrobrazi Refinery Plans Maintenance Overhaul

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Romania's 89,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Petrobrazi Refinery, located 60 kilometres north of Bucharest and owned and operated by Petrom SA (Bucharest), will undergo a planned maintenance overhaul during the second quarter of 2010.

Petrobrazi was founded in 1934 and is currently divided into two areas: the refining site and the utilities complex. The main activity at the plant is the processing of Romanian oil, but the facility also has a separate unit that processes chemical products.

The maintenance overhaul, which is expected to last 30 nonproduction days, includes the cleaning and maintenance of all the units of the refining and utilities areas. The shutdown will affect the 89,000-BBL/d atmospheric distillation unit, the 44,000-BBL/d vacuum unit, the 16,000-BBL/d naphtha hydrotreater, the 10,000-BBL/d catalytic reformer, the 30,000-BBL/d fluid catalytic converter, the 2,400-BBL/d MTBE unit, the 2,400-BBL/d alkylation unit, the sulphur recovery unit, the blending plant and the amine treatment unit, among others.
