Saudi Aramco to Upgrade Refineries by 2025

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Saudi Aramco (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) plans to upgrade its Ras Tanura and SAMREF refineries by 2025 by performing residue upgrade and addition projects.

As part of a residue upgrade project at its facility in Ras Tanura, Saudi Aramco plans to install a 75,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) hydrocracker, 30,000-BBL/d kerosene hydrotreater and 32,000-BBL/d solvent deasphalting unit. Similarly, at the SAMREF refinery, Saudi Aramco plans to construct a 55,000-BBL/d hydrocracker, 120 ton-per-day sulfur recovery unit, and a saturated gas plant, along with amine recovery, sour water, stripper, and utility units. Saudi Aramco also plans to construct a 15,000-BBL/d solvent deasphalting unit at its Riyadh refinery.
