Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Sempra Energy (NYSE:SRE) (San Diego) said Thursday it is targeting a final investment decision (FID) for Phase 1 of its Port Arthur, Texas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the first quarter of 2023.
Industrial Info has tracked this project since April 2015. The 7.73 million-metric-ton-per-year LNG train would process 1 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas, with LNG exports to free-trade and non-free-trade-agreement countries. Kickoff of the project is planned for December 2023, with completion planned for the end of 2027.
"This follows the company's recent announcement that it has finalized its fixed-price engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 and the substantial completion of marketing for Phase 1, which was achieved during the second quarter through a series of previously announced non-binding agreements with both domestic and international counterparties," the company said in its third-quarter earnings report."
Bechtel Corporation (Reston, Virginia) has been awarded the EPC contract for the project.
"A similarly sized Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project is also under active marketing and development," Sempra added.
