Suncor to Sell Trans Mountain-Shipped Oil Directly - Canada's Suncor Energy Incorporated (NYSE:SU) (Calgary, Alberta) is leasing Aframax vessels in the Pacific and selling direct to customers, seeking to maximize profits on oil being shipped on the newly completed Trans Mountain pipeline expansion (TMX), the company said on Wednesday. TMX, which began commercial operations last week, will ship an extra 590,000 barrels per day from Alberta to Canada's Pacific coast and is expected to increase access to markets in Asia and the U.S. West Coast. EIA: U.S. Power Use to Reach Record Highs in 2024, 2025 - U.S. power consumption will rise to record highs in 2024 and 2025, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its Short-Term Energy Outlook this week. The EIA projected power demand will rise to 4,103 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2024 and 4,159 billion kWh in 2025. That compares with 4,000 billion kWh in 2023 and a record 4,067 billion kWh in 2022. (Reuters)

Vietnam Begins Commissioning Second LNG Import Terminal - Vietnam has started the commissioning phase of its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, which is on track to start commercial operations in September, the Singapore partner in the operating company said in a statement on Wednesday. The Cai Mep LNG terminal is located in Vietnam's southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province with capacity to import 3 million metric tons of LNG a year.
