Tractor Supply Selects General Contractor for New Midwest Distribution Center

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated Houston, Texas). The number one tractor supply company in the U.S., Tractor Supply Company (NYSE:TSCO) (Brentwood, Tennessee), has selected a general contractor for its new Midwest distribution center, which will be located in the small town of Waverly, Nebraska, about ten miles northeast of Lincoln. After searching in many states and communities in the region for a prime location for a new center, the company decided in November 2004 that Waverly was the best choice to support a multi-state distribution and logistics center. The site, on Interstate 80 and 134th street in the town's industrial park, has good interstate and highway access.

Davis Design Incorporated (Lincoln, Nebraska) was selected as the A&E firm for the project, and local contractor Sampson Construction (Lincoln, Nebraska) will act as the G/C. Sampson will handle the building construction, and Tractor Supply will separately award installation of the internal distribution center components.

Ground preparation at the 50-acre site is already underway and the foundation for the 430,000 square foot building is expected to be poured around mid-April of 2005. The building will be outfitted with office areas, shipping and receiving docks, multiple rows of high-storage racking, and an automated order picking system that will help the center run at maximum efficiency.

Completion of this estimated $15 million project is scheduled for late December 2005 and is expected to employ about 100 people.

Tractor Supply Company is the leading retail farm and ranch store brand in America. Founded in 1938 as a mail order tractor parts business, Tractor Supply Company owns and operates nearly 500 stores in 31 states, supplying daily farm and ranch maintenance supplies to a targeted customer base.
