Representing about 10% of the nations industrial project spending, based on projects scheduled to begin construction in 2007 or beyond, the US Gulf Coast Region is one of the nations key industrial regions. This area includes the coastal areas of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama as well as Floridas Gulf of Mexico border. Thirty-two of these plants are currently under construction while the rest are in the planning and engineering stages.
The majority of the project development in the Gulf Coast Region is for energy-related projects, such as power plants, petroleum refineries, LNG, oil & natural gas terminals, ethanol and petrochemicals. There are 31 grassroot power plants planned and 32 grassroot alternative fuels (ethanol, biodiesel) plants planned.
