Among the largest projects planned to kick off this quarter is a light rail extension project in Washington. Sound Transit (Seatac, Washington) plans to kick off the 8.5-mile extension of the Link Light Rail system this summer. The extension will run from Northgate to the Lynwood Transit Center and will include four stations. Stacy-Witbeck-Kiewit-Hoffman (Seattle, Washington) is the joint-venture construction manager. The $1.5 billion project is expected to take about five years to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
The Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry makes a strong showing in the region during the quarter. Among the projects in this sector that are planned to start is the Dexter Yard Life Sciences towers in Seattle. The 14-story, 550,000-square-foot building will be leased to multiple life science- and technology-related research and development firms. SKB Architects (Seattle) is the architects on the project, and Turner Construction Company is the general contractor. The project is expected to take a little more than two years to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In Lakeview, Oregon, Red Rock Biofuels LLC (Fort Collins, Colorado) plans to kick off construction on a grassroot biomass-to-liquids to plant. The plant will use the Fischer-Tropsch gasification system to process 175,000 tons per year of forestry biomass into 16 million gallons per year of liquid transportation fuel, such as jet fuel and renewable diesel. The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $200 million. Construction is planned to kick off this summer and be completed by the end of 2019. Swaggart Brothers Incorporated (Hermiston, Oregon) is the general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Among the largest projects planned to wrap up in the quarter is Grant County Public Utility's upgrade at the Wanapum Hydropower Station in Washington. For more on that project, see June 20, 2018, article - Join Industrial Info at HydroVision International.
Among the other projects planned to wrap up this quarter is Amazon.com Incorporated's (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle) fulfillment center in Troutdale, Oregon. Construction began on the 857,000-square-foot facility in the first half of 2017. The facility includes 49 loading docks. Sierra Construction Company Incorporated (Woodville, Washington) is the general contractor on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $178.4 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Also set for completion is Katerra's (Menlo Park, California) cross-laminated timber manufacturing facility in Spokane Valley, Washington. The project began construction late last year and is expected to wrap up this summer. The facility will manufacture engineered wood products and glulam for floor and wall panels and structural beams. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
