The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Inc.; Houston, Texas). Waupaca Foundry Incorporated (Waupaca, Wi.), a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp AG (Dusseldorf, Germany) (DAX: TKA) will start operations at its newly constructed gray and ductile iron foundry located in Etowah, Tennessee on October 15, 2001. Known as Plant #6, the $95 million 280,000 square foot foundry will produce calipers and rotor disc brake parts for the transportation industry. The foundry boasts an 80-ton melting cupola and associated downstream molding, core making, cleaning and finishing equipment.
Since the company was founded in 1955, Waupaca Foundry has constructed six major foundries in the US. Waupaca Foundry operates plants #1, #2, and #3 in Waupaca, Wisconsin and plant #4 in Marinette, Wisconsin. Planning for plant #6 began in early 1998 and came on the heals of the company completing its $150 Million plant #5 located in Tell City, Indiana.
