Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Development and Reform Commission of Shaanxi Province recently approved the 48-megawatt (MW) Jingbian wind power project invested by the Shandong Luneng Development Group Company Limited (Jinan, China), a subsidiary of Shandong Luneng Group (Jinan). The $67.4 million project, located in Shaanxi's Jingbian County, is the first wind power project in the province.
Shandong Luneng Development plans to build 32 1.5-MW wind turbines on the windfarm. Each turbine will have one 1.6-megavolt-ampere box transformer. The turbines will be arranged into four groups of six to nine units each and be connected to a 110-kilovolt (kV) step-up substation by way of four 35-kV cables. The project will then be connected to the 330-kV Jingbian substation by way of one 110-kV overhead transmission line. The project's annual power output will be about 90 million kilowatt-hours.
Compared with conventional thermal power, the wind power project could save about 32,000 metric tons of standard coal and reduce the emissions of SO2 by about 131 metric tons annually.
In the beginning of 2006, Shandong Luneng Development signed an agreement with the government of Jingbian County to develop the project. In October 2007, a feasibility study report for the project passed its examination and was submitted to the development and reform commission for approval. The project finally received approval in January 2008. Construction of the project is expected to start in April 2008 and is expected to last two years.
