ANCAP to Open Bids on September 26 for Pipeline Construction Projects in Uruguay

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--State-owned oil company Administracion Nacional de Combustibles, Alcoholes y Portland (ANCAP) (Montevideo, Uruguay) plans to open public bids on September 26 for the construction of two pipelines. Both pipelines will transport petroleum products from La Teja, which has been operational since 1937. It is Uruguay's only petroleum refinery.

The La Tablada Distribution Plant, one of ANCAP's main fuel distributors, will be one of the destinations, receiving 400 cubic meters per day of gasoline and kerosene, and 800 cubic meters per day of gas oil. The duct will be 5 miles long and 12 inches wide. The other line will transport 250 cubic meters per day of fuel oil from La Teja Refinery to the UTE Thermic Central Jose Batlle y Ordonez. This 2.5-mile pipeline will also be 12 inches wide.

The investments required by these turnkey contracts will be defined after the bidding process. ANCAP expects to award project contracts in December and begin construction around March 2009 after permits and authorizations are obtained.
