America’s Renewable Energy Gets State Permit To Proceed with Construction on Illinois Biodiesel Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). America’s Renewable Energy LLC (Quincy, Illinois), a division privately held Ewing Land Development Services (Pella, Iowa), has received a State of Illinois EPA permit to proceed with construction of a new biodiesel plant that will be located in Quincy, Illinois. The company secured a 172-acre site at the intersection of Radio Road and Gardner Expressway earlier this year. The site has access to the Mississippi River, the Burlington Junction Railway and Interstate Highway 72. Quincy is located about 110 miles up the Mississippi River from Saint Louis.

Plans call for the creation of a 60 million gallon per year plant that will most likely process soybean oil feedstock supplied by neighboring Archer Daniels Midland’s soybean processing plant. ADM is currently under way with a greater than $5 million expansion project to increase soybean crush rate to support future demand.

Construction of the biodiesel plant is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2007, and creation of the plant is expected to take about twelve months to complete. Once start-up and commissioning activities are complete, the facility is expected to be fully operational by December 2008.

The company has selected Progressive Energies Incorporated (Leawood, Kansas) to provide construction management and M & W Contractors Incorporated (East Peoria, Illinois) will act as the general contractor for the project. The plant represents a capital investment of over $70 million. The company also has unconfirmed plans to add an ethanol plant to the site in the future.

Industrial Info's Ethanol Production Database provides a comprehensive outline of all current development activities in the emerging synthetic fuels market. This database covers 123 ethanol plants currently in operation and 290 plants under development. It also covers thirty-two operational biodiesel plants and 75 biodiesel plants under development.
