Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Anchorage Municipal Light & Power is in final negotiations with a potential contractor to construct the 120-megawatt (MW), combined-cycle expansion at the George M. Sullivan Generation Plant (Anchorage, Alaska). Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2014, with completion in 2016.
The 223-MW, natural gas-fired plant consists of a combined-cycle unit with General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) equipment and a Siemens black-start combustion turbine for emergency purposes. The plant is to add two-on-one General Electric combustion turbines, with once-through heat-recovery steam generators; a steam turbine; and an SPX or GEA mechanical draft cooling tower. The chosen contractor will choose the equipment manufacturer for the steam turbine and associated equipment. Other equipment includes of circulating water pumps, cooling water pumps, condensate pumps and boiler feedwater pumps.
Anchorage Municipal Light & Power is utilizing Integrated Engineers & Contractors Corporation (Lake Oswego, Oregon) to provide engineering services for the project.
