Annual Production Capacity in Anhui’s Huainan & Huaibei Coal Base Reaches 100 Million Metric Tons

Guqiao Coal Mine of Anhui Huainan Coal Mining Group Company, Limited (Anhui, China), Liuzhuang Coal Mine of SDIC Xinji Energy Company, Limited (Anhui, China) and Wobei Coal Mine of Huaibei Coal Mining Group Company, Limited (Anhui, China) have passed the acceptance organized by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and put into official operation recently. This is a new milestone in the construction history of the coal industry in China, which marks that the production capacity in Anhui’s Huainan & Huaibei Coal Base will reach 100 million metric tons.

The annual production capacity of Guqiao, Liuzhuang and Wobei coal mines is 5 million metric tons, 3 million metric tons, and 1.2 million metric tons, respectively, with a total production capacity of 9.2 million metric tons. During the construction of these three coal mines, several advanced technologies were employed, such as deep well pressure control technology and gas comprehensive treatment & utilization technology.

Huainan & Huaibei Coal Base has a rich coal reserve and is excellent in coal quality. During the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” (2001-2005), Anhui accelerated the construction of a new energy sources with thermal power and coal-to-chemical plant development as the objectives, by integrated development of coal, power, and chemicals. Presently, important projects such as the transmitting power from Anhui to East China project, integrated coal-to-chemical and salinization projects, are under tight construction. During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” (2006-2010), Anhui further enhanced the investment in the construction of a batch of coal power, and coal-to-chemical projects, which has built up the Huainan & Huaibei region as the largest coal-to-chemical industry base in the East China region and an important energy and heavy chemical industry base in China.
