Arauco's MAPA Cellulose Project Resumes in Brazil, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Arauco is moving forward with the MAPA project [Proyecto Modernización y Ampliación Planta Arauco] south of Concepcion, Chile.

The company will triple its annual cellulose production to 2.1 million tonnes. The project involves the suspension of the mill's 280,000-tonne eucalyptus production line, a modernization of the 506,000-tonne pine line, and the construction of a third 1.56 million-tonne line.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Arauco was forced to suspend construction for two weeks, but it since has resumed. The project is set to be completed by March 2021, and half of the construction is completed.
