Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--At long last, Bio-Alternative LLC (Covington, Indiana) is ready to begin producing biodiesel this week at its plant in Covington, Indiana. The plant will convert various feedstocks to 15.5 million gallons of biodiesel annually.
The plant has been under construction since early 2009, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued the final permit in December of that year. The unique feature about this plant is that it will combine the processes of standard methanol-based biodiesel production with Bio-Alternative's unique refining methods, which feature the company's patented catalyst and resin beds, in pre- and post-treatment.
Bio-Alternative already performs research and development, provides technology, and produces biodiesel-related equipment.
When operational, Bio-Alternative will be the sixth operating biodiesel plant in the state of Indiana. Another is in the planning stages.
Bio-Alternative is on South 600th West in Covington, almost 80 miles northwest of Indianapolis. The facility has 20 employees.
