Chevron Phillips Underway for $150 Million Cyclohexane Unit Addition

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company Limited Partnership (CPChem) (Port Arthur, Texas) has begun construction for a $50 million cyclohexane unit addition at its Port Arthur, Texas olefins and aromatics plant.

Foundation work began in May 2003 with completion slated for spring 2004. Details include construction of the new cyclohexane unit enclosed in a steel structure plus supporting equipment to produce 266,000 metric tons per year of cyclohexane. Cyclohexane is used in the manufacture of nylons, primarily carpeting and resin applications.
