China Huaneng Group's First Flue Gas De-nitration Device Goes into Operation

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China Huaneng Group's (Beijing) first set of boiler flue gas de-nitration devices, the No. 2 boiler de-nitration unit at the Huaneng Beijing thermal power plant, went into operation on October 13, 2007, in Beijing. The emission density of the unit's nitric oxides was reduced from 250-300 mg/m3 to 30-50 mg/m3 after the unit went into operation. The new emissions range is better than the specifications set for nitric oxides for gas turbines, raising it to an internationally advanced emission level.

The No. 2 device is one of the four sets at the plant. The project aims for energy conservation and emissions reduction as promised by China Huaneng Group to be completed in 2007. This is also another important environmental project comes after the successful completion of China Huaneng Group's first integrated desulfurization flue gas tower built in 2006. The project's completion will further improve the environmental quality in the city.

The Huaneng Beijing thermal power plant, in the eastern Beijing suburb of Gaobeidian, is jointly invested by Beijing Energy Investment (Group) Company Limited (42%) (Beijing) and Huaneng International Power Development Company (58%). The plant has two 165-megawatt (MW) and two 220-MW combined heat and power coal-fired units, an industrial steam supply capacity of 600 t/h and a heat supply area of 12.5 million square meters. Construction of the de-nitration project began in December 2006, and the remaining three sets of devices will be put into full operation by the end of 2007.
