Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--An expert panel has cleared the environmental impact assessment report for the 1,320-megawatt (MW) Phase V expansion project at Datang International Tuoketuo Power Generation Company Limited's (Hohhot, Inner Mongolia) Tuoketuo Power Plant.
The approval was announced on January 16 by the Ministry of Environment Protection.
The Tuoketuo Power Plant, located at Yanshanyin Town of Tuoketuo County in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is one of the largest thermal power plants in China. The plant currently has eight 600-MW, coal-fired units. The Phase V expansion includes two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, single-reheat, pulverized coal-fired boilers, with balanced ventilation to drive two ultra-supercritical, single-shaft, single-reheat, direct air-cooling condensing steam turbines, together with two water-hydrogen-hydrogen-cooling 660-MW generators.
The project is a joint investment of Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (SH:601991) (Beijing) and Beijing Energy Investment Holding Company Limited (Beijing). North China Power Engineering Company Limited (Beijing) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
The project will take water from the Yellow River by using the existing pump rooms and pipelines. The project will use bituminous coal that is shipped to the site by the existing special railway. It will be connected to North China Power Grid via a 500-kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
The project includes several environmental protection features, including: a limestone-plaster wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system without bypass, with a design desulfurization rate of 95%; high efficiency electrostatic precipitators (ESP), with a dust removal rate of 99.88% to achieve a combined dust removal rate of 99.94% (considering 50% of the dust removal rate at the FGD); and low nitrogen oxide burners and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) for nitrogen oxide control with a NOx removal rate of 80%. The project also will have a 200-ton-per-hour industrial wastewater processing station, a 40-ton-per-hour system for wastewater with coal content, and a 16-ton-per-hour system for wastewater from the FGDs.
