Future Overhaul Planned for Czech Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--An overhaul has been scheduled for the 20,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Pardubice, Czech Republic, owned by Unipetrol AS (Prague, Czech Republic).

The shutdown, which will entail mainly cleaning and inspection work, will be carried out in the refinery's three blocks: the refining block, the bitumen block, and the oil plant block. The overhaul will involve 10, includingr the 20,000-BBL/d crude unit, the 7,000-BBL/d vacuum unit and the 6,000-BBL/d gas oil HDS. The overhaul will start in the first quarter of 2011 and will last approximately 25 non-production days.

General maintenance overhauls at the the refinery are performed every year. After the turnaround that will be performed next year, authorities expect to keep most units online until the overhaul planned for the first qurter of 2012. The bidding process generally starts ten months before maintenance work is set to begin.

Apart from Pardubice refinery, Ceska Rafinerska operates two other refineries in the Czech Republic: the Litvinov refinery, which has a capacity of 109,000 BBL/d and the Kralupy nad Vltavou refinery, with a capacity of 67,000 BBL/d. The Czech Republic has a combined refining capacity of 196,000 BBL/d.
