Gdansk Refinery to Perform Maintenance Turnarounds

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Grupa Lotos S.A.'s (WAR:LTS) (Gdansk, Poland) 120,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Gdansk will undergo maintenance repairs in some processing units in the first quarter of 2013.

The Gdansk refinery undergoes processing-unit shutdowns every four years. The next turnaround, which is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2013, will be performed in units such as the 120,000-BBL/d crude, the 26,644-BBL/d vacuum, the 3,500-BBL/d isomerization, the 1,600-BBL/d hydrogen and others. During the shutdown, routine cleaning and maintenance will be performed.

Separately, next October 2010, a new 45,000-BBL/d mild hydrocracker unit will begin running. The sour water stripper, hydrogen, Claus 1 and amine units will stop processing for 15 days while the tie-in work is performed.

The installation of the atmospheric and vacuum distillation system (CDU/VDU) is through; the unit began processing on December 18, 2009. The new CDU/VDU crude oil capacity is about 89,800 BBL/d.
