Graymont Expands Pennsylvania Lime Manufacturing Operations

Graymont Pennsylvania Incorporated, a subsidiary of Graymont Incorporated (Richmond, British Columbia), is moving forward with the construction of kiln #7 addition at the company's lime manufacturing plant in Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania. Civil work and site preparation are underway for the addition of a 1050 ton per day rotary lime kiln. Mechanical and electrical bids are scheduled to be released in October 2006. Penta Engineering Corporation (Saint Louis, Missouri) is providing engineering services for the project.

Graymont completed the construction of kiln #6 late in 2005. Kiln #6 is a 1,200 ton per day rotary lime kiln. Industrial Info first reported on this $69 million project in 2001. Graymont is closing its other lime plants in Pennsylvania as the new plant's kilns become operational. The Bellefonte lime plant, which is eight miles away, is closed.

Capital spending at lime manufacturing plants is on the rise in response to strong demand from steel making and construction industries. Graymont is evaluating several other kiln line additions at its plants nationwide.
