Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 165-megawatt (MW) Cameron windfarm project, located in Cameron County, Texas, recently began commercial operations.
The windfarm is utilizing 55 Acciona SA (Alcobendas, Spain) turbines, and will provide enough energy to power over 59,000 U.S. homes annually. This project had a total investment of $254 million and took six months to be completed. Swedish furniture giant IKEA (Delft, Netherlands) purchased the windfarm from Apex Clean Energy (Charlottesville, Virginia) after its completion. Apex will remain as the operation and maintenance provider.
Construction of the plant was completed by IEA Renewable Energy Incorporated (Indianapolis, Indiana).
