India to Boost Coal-Bed Methane Gas Production, an Industrial Info Market Brief

India's oil and gas companies are boosting production of coal-bed methane (CBM) gas that they are free to sell at market prices. Among companies ramping up CBM output are Reliance Industries, Essar Oil and Great Eastern Energy Corporation. State-run Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has already begun test production from its CBM blocks. It is expected that CBM gas in India's natural gas production will go up from the present 3% to 10% in four to five years. See map for project locations.
