Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--INEOS Group Limited (Lyndhurst, England) has scheduled a maintenance turnaround at its 200,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Grangemouth refinery (Scotland) for the first quarter of 2010.
The refinery's Hydrocracker Complex will shut down in March for 35 non-production days. During this downtime, inspection and maintenance will be performed in the 45,000-BBL/d Hydrocracker, the Sulfur Recovery unit 1, the vacuum unit, and the hydrogen production unit, among others.
Located 40 kilometers west of Edinburgh, the Grangemouth plant, Scotland's only crude oil refinery, was commissioned in 1924. Previously owned by BP plc (NYSE:BP) (London), the refinery was sold to INEOS Group in December 2005. The refinery and petrochemicals facility is the largest INEOS production complex. It is a deeply integrated complex exploiting synergies between the refinery and the petrochemical plants. The plant is strategically located to profit from crude oil and natural gas liquids from the North Sea and transform them into petrol, fuel products, and a variety of olefins and polymer products.
