Canaport LNG Limited Partnership (Saint John, New Brunswick), a joint venture of Irving Oil Limited (Saint John, New Brunswick) and Repsol YPF SA (NYSE:REP) (Madrid, Spain), has awarded E+P+C contracts for its Canaport LNG receiving terminal, which is currently under construction near Saint John, New Brunswick.
Canaport LNG awarded the E+P+C contract for the onshore portion of the LNG project to SNC-CENMC GP, a partnership between SNC-Lavalin of Montreal, Quebec and Saipem SpA of Milan, Italy. The contract covers all onshore facilities and jetty topsides. The onshore facilities will include three 160,000 cubic meter cryogenic LNG storage tanks with a throughput of 600,000 cubic meters per hour, regasification facilities and the jetty topsides will be 350 meters in length.
The offshore E+P+C contract was awarded to Kiewit-Weeks-Sandwell Partnership, a consortium of Peter Kiewit Sons Company of Saint Johns, Newfoundland; Weeks Marine of Cranford, New Jersey and Sandwell Engineering of Vancouver, British Columbia. The offshore facilities will be designed to accommodate LNG carriers of up to 200,000 cubic meters in capacity.
Site Preparation on the Canaport LNG terminal began in mid-2005. The E+P+C contractors were given their full release to proceed with construction in May 2006. When completed in late 2008, the Canaport LNG terminal will have a LNG re-gasification capacity of 1 1.2 billion cubic feet per day.
